ANTIQUE early 1900s KEY WIND TOY MODEL of wood TUG BOAT ROBERT E. This is an outstanding late 1800s to early 1900s key wind up toy model of the TUG BOAT called the ROBERT E. Which was out of Woodside, New Jersey. 12 inches in length, 3 inches wide, 5 inches in height. It has a brass key wind type engine which i did wind a little, the propeller will just rotate if you spin it with your finger to help it, it wants to go, there is some action to the propeller but it does need some type of adjustment.

There is some damage to the roof of the cabin area, and the nails that hold it in place are all off center now, the cabin roof really needs to be attatched properly in a different way then it currently is. I could not get the deck of the boat off to inspect or picture the engine. It comes with an antique wood dunhill cigar case that fits it well fr storage and there is also the original base support to display the model. At first i thought this might be a steam engine, but after seeing teh winding key and winding t up i believe it is a wind up mechanism like the German tin wind up boats that are very popular. Im not sure if this is American or German made, or if it is factory or home made, there are no makers marks and im not a toy expert.
