I race with a local club that is part of the American Model Yachting Association. I was planning to restore this one but I have too many projects at the moment and this one displays really well as is, so putting for sale and hoping someone else can also enjoy it.
Authentic antique sailing pond yacht dating approximately from the late 19th century through the early 1920s. This is a genuine working pond-boat hull rather than a modern decorative reproduction.
The approximately 31-inch wooden hull retains numerous period handmade metal fittings, including rigging eyelets, an adjustable steering mechanism, rudder, keel and lead keel bulb. The surviving fittings and attachment points indicate that the boat was originally equipped with a proper mast, bowsprit and functional sail plan. With its original rig restored, it would approach the traditional one-meter class. The mast, sails and rigging are no longer present. The bowsprit is broken or missing, and an empty mounting point remains where the mast step was formerly attached.
The hull was repainted at some point, probably considerably later than its original construction. The green and red paint is somewhat uneven and should be considered an older amateur restoration rather than a professional finish. The name "Swap" appears painted near the bow. Included is the substantial black-painted wooden display stand, which remains attractive and stable.
Overall displayed height: 10 inches. Hull width: approximately 6 inches. Condition is very good for its considerable age, with expected finish wear, scratches, discoloration, small losses and evidence of earlier restoration. The rudder and steering fittings remain present.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. An impressive survivor suitable for a pond-yacht collection, nautical display, maritime décor or a historically sympathetic restoration project. Due to its age and incomplete rig, it is being offered as a collectible display and restoration piece rather than as a currently sail-ready boat.
