This Schooner La Gaspésienne Model was specially designed & built by the plank on bulkhead method (joining multiple small pieces of wood like western red cedar, rosewood and mahogany together on the hull). The sailboat model is built exactly to scale as the original La Gaspésienne Canadian fishing boat was with many details. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish.

This La Gaspésienne schooner model was specially designed & built by the plank on bulkhead method (joining multiple small pieces of western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany together on the hull).

The sailboat model is built exactly to scale as the original La Gaspésienne was with many details. The hand sanded hull has black and white topsides and dark red bottom paint. Rigging on the La Gaspésienne is detailed with dead eyes and chain plates. The deck is beautifully planked from many strips of wood.

There are various details on the deck such as hatches, winches, and cabin. The schooner is mounted on a solid wood base with a metal nameplate. The La Gaspésienne was launched at the Canadian Davie Shipyard which was built in the beginning of the 19th century.

The last of the Davie brothers died in 1951, and Paul Gourdeau, the company's accountant, took over the business. He began building wooden fishing boats of a type called the "Gaspésienne, " producing over 125 of them. The model measures 43 long from bow to stern.
