The work boat model is built exactly to scale as the Seguin Tug Boat was with many details. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish. The model measures 26 long from bow to stern.

The SEGUIN tug boat was Built in Bath, Maine, launched in 1884, spent her first 20 years towing wooden sailing vessels up and down the Kennebec River and towing cargo barges along the Atlantic coast, from Maine to Virginia. Named after Seguin Island at the mouth of the Kennebec River, the Seguin at one time was our nation's oldest operating steam powered tugboat. In the early 1900s, she became a New York harbor tug, finally returning to an active career in Maine until retiring in 1967.

During restoration by the Maine Maritime Museum, her hull was found to be hopelessly rotted, and, with deep regret, the museum scrapped her. Highlights about this historic model work boat. 100% hand built from scratch using "plank on bulkhead" construction method.

Extensive research through original plans and pictures make this model authentic. This model went through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop.
