This Chinese Pirate Junk Model was specially designed & built by the plank on bulkhead method (joining multiple small pieces of wood like Rosewood, Mahogany, Teak and other exotic tropical wood together on the hull). The work boat model is built exactly to scale as a Chinese Junk was with many details.

The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish. The model measures 27 long from bow to stern. It's a fabulous boat model that will be a conversation piece for any room, office or Chinese restaurant. 100% hand built, Size: 27" overall length x 24 1/2" height x 7 width.

This Chinese Pirate Junk Model was specially designed & built by the plank on bulkhead method (joining multiple small pieces of wood like Mahogany, Teak and other exotic tropical wood together on the hull). The task required skillful craftsmen more than 50 hours to accomplish.

Details include fully battened sails made from hand-stitched fabric, brass cannons and anchors, miniature tenders (dingy), on deck canopy, open hatch, and multi-level wooden deck. Model comes with a sturdy wooden stand and metal nameplate with "CHINESE PIRATE JUNK 1841" inscribed on it. In the year Eighteen Hundred and Sixty, the South China Sea continued to be an attractive and thriving refuge for pirates.

Sea trade in and around the Orient was flourishing, while the local governments offered only helplessness and apathy. China was gradually breaking apart into civil war, and Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour had so much sea traffic that it became impossible for the British to police. Trade between Hong Kong and other South China Sea ports was bustling with merchants transporting commodities, slaves-and even more sinister cargo.

Only the bravest dared stow Opium, for fear of British patrols or worse... The illegal Opium trade could bring high reward and all too often, cruel death. Pirate Junks lurked the rivers and harbors of China and Hong Kong, and it was often impossible to tell whether they belonged to merchants or pirates, until it was too late! 100% hand built from scratch using "plank on bulkhead" construction method. Included with this intermediate level boat model is a solid wood base.

Completed model contains thousands of details created by skillful master craftsmen. Made of finest wood like Mahogany, Teak and other exotic tropical wood.
