The model is in pristine vintage condition with purely age-related signs of wear such as finish cracking on the hull. The model is approximately 43 inches long. From the data available, which is information about contemporary ships and related ships, viz the Cutty Sark and the Peking, I assume this model to be either 1/50th or 1/60th scale, putting a rough measure of about 200 feet from stern to prow on the original. Now, as far as I know, the model dates to the middle 20th Century. Therefore, it is not 100+ years old and not an antique proper ; however, in the spirit of the word, it is a very fine and rare vintage collectible.
After further study, I feel that my initial scale estimate was wrong. If the three masted Cutty Sark is 280 feet LOA (length overall including the bowsprit) then this 5 masted contemporaneous clipper must surpass 300 feet, making the 43 model likely a 1/80th- 1/100th scale model, corresponding to the actual Deutschland length between 300-360 feet.
