SS Oceanic Independence Ocean Liner Wooden Ship Model, New, Constitution

  

This is a custom build to match the Oceanic Independence version. Hand crafted by artisans from scratch using high quality woods & metal fittings. The model is 100% hand built by artisans from scratch using "plank on frame" construction method.

Rosewood, mahogany, teak and other exotic woods are carefully selected to build the model. Real brass & stainless steel fittings. Propellers and rudders made from brass. Laser cut doors and window. You can see thru superstructure.

Hollow hull and hollow superstructure. SS Independence was an ocean liner built in 1951 for American Export Lines.

The destination later changed to Dubai. In 2009 she was renamed Platinum II and left Dubai under tow for the shipbreaking yards in Alang, India. After having been turned away from the scrap yards due to hazardous materials she was grounded off Alang.

Later her hull broke in two aft of the smokestacks, making refloating impossible. She was scrapped on the spot.
