A fantastic early carved wood folk art miniature model of a Detroit tugboat. Model measures 9 inches long by 2.25 inches wide by 5 inches tall on base. The name on the bow is ELLA V and on the stern is written ELLA V DETROIT. Wood tugboats in Detroit, peaking in the late 19th century, were vital for towing timber, lumber-laden barges, and assisting schooners through the Great Lakes and Detroit River.
