COREL WASA SEZIONE ARMATA SM39. 1:24 SCALE GUN DECK CROSS SECTION MODEL KIT. The Swedish warship Wasa was built between 1626 and 1628, and foundered after sailing less than a mile into her maiden voyage on August 10, 1628.

She was forgotten about after most of her valuable bronze cannon were salvaged in the 17. Century, until she was again located in the 1950s in Stockholm harbor. Due to the cold water, the hull was largely intact and was salvaged in 1961. Re-assembled and now in a museum, the Wasa is the best preserved 17.

This cross section, as large as it is, comprises a portion of one gun deck and the main deck, along with hull details, planking and more. The kit contains many accessories and ornamentation and usesthe finest material. The cannon is turned brass, the carriage is built up, casks and many other small details come to life in this size.

Two things should be emphasized about this model. As far as size goes, the 220mm x 175mm x 160mm (8.7 x6.9 x 6.3) dimensions doesnt really portray it. Sure, theres stripwood, but the hull beams are almost a half inch thick! While detail is amazing (from the water buckets assembled from separate pieces of stripwood), to the castings, the size makes it an impressive model. Even the box is 15 x 9.25 x 2.5. Quality Probably because of the scale, the detail and the quality of those details are amazing. The plans comprise eight 18 x 25sheets, with all views plus isometric views plus all the details. Youll probably want to frame them afterwards, to maybe provide a background for your finished model. Materials are first-rate, with hardwood, brass and other metals, castings, photo-etched brass sheet for smaller details such as swords and pikes.

The silk flag is accurate and colorful, and really sets the model off. That wont happen with this model.
